Delegation from CASS Visits Bangladesh Agricultural University to Strengthen Collaboration for Rural Development and Transformation
On 15 July 2025, a distinguished delegation led by Professor Houkai Wei, Director of Rural Development, along with Professor Xuewen Tan, Professor Kai Cui, and Professor Yuanzheng Yang, visited Professor Dr. A. K. Fazlul Haque Bhuiyan, Vice Chancellor of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) at his office. The visit was hosted by Professor Dr. Mohammad Jahangir Alam, Department of Agribusiness and Marketing, BAU.
During the visit, the delegation observed the current status of rural development initiatives in Bangladesh, gaining firsthand insights into ongoing activities and community conditions.
In the official meeting, the honorable Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Bhuiyan, shared his experiences and perspectives on rural development and transformation in Bangladesh. He expressed his appreciation for the continued collaboration between the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and BAU and acknowledged the value of efforts and knowledge exchange.
The discussion also focused on promising avenues for future cooperation between CASS and BAU, particularly in rural development and transformation, agricultural economics, and sustainable technologies.
Also present at the meeting were Professor Dr. Ismat Ara Begum, Department of Agricultural Economics and Professor Dr. Md. Rostom Ali, Department of Farm Power and Machinery, and other young members of the team including Al Amin Al Abbasi, Subrata Saha, Md. Asif Iqbal and Md. Abdullah Al Mamun, further reinforcing BAU’s commitment to interdisciplinary engagement and academic collaboration.
The visit marks another important step in the growing partnership between CASS and BAU, aiming to address rural challenges through research, innovation, and international cooperation.
