Welcome Message from the Vice-Chancellor

It is a great honor and privilege for me to serve as the Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), a premier institution of agricultural education, research, and innovation in Bangladesh. As a proud alumnus of this university, I feel deeply connected to its rich heritage and remain committed to contributing to its continued advancement. Bangladesh Agricultural University has played a pivotal role in transforming the agricultural sector of the country through quality education, cutting-edge research, innovation, and the development of skilled human resources. I firmly believe that the university must continue to respond proactively to emerging national and global challenges, particularly those related to food security, climate change, sustainable agriculture, biodiversity, and the responsible use of modern technologies. As Vice-Chancellor, my vision is to strengthen BAU as a Centre of Excellence in Agricultural Education, Research, Innovation, and Community Engagement. We will work collectively to create an academic environment that encourages creativity, critical thinking, interdisciplinary collaboration, ethical values, and excellence in teaching and research. Particular emphasis will be placed on strengthening research capacity, promoting innovation and technology transfer, expanding national and international collaborations, and enhancing the employability and leadership skills of our graduates. Our university possesses tremendous intellectual and institutional resources. The expertise of our distinguished faculty members, the enthusiasm and creativity of our students, and the dedication of our officers and staff provide a strong foundation for achieving our goals. I believe that effective teamwork, transparency, accountability, and mutual respect are essential for building a progressive and inclusive university. My academic and research experience in fish breeding, molecular genetics and biotechnology, and aquaculture has reinforced my belief in the power of research and innovation to address real-world problems. I am particularly committed to promoting research that generates practical solutions for farmers, fishers, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and other stakeholders. Stronger links among academia, industry, government, development organizations, and farming communities can significantly enhance the impact of our research. We must also embrace the opportunities offered by digital transformation, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, smart agriculture, and other emerging technologies. Integrating these technologies into education, research, administration, and extension services will help BAU become more efficient, innovative, and globally competitive. I am confident that Bangladesh Agricultural University can further strengthen its position nationally and internationally through academic excellence, impactful research, innovation, internationalization, and meaningful engagement with society. Achieving this vision will require the collective efforts of all members of the BAU community. I warmly welcome our students, faculty members, researchers, alumni, development partners, and national and international collaborators to join us in this journey.
